 God Modding / Powerplaying Explanation
« Thread Started on Nov 26, 2007, 6:20pm »

God Modding

God modding is the act of being invincible, doing something you can't do, or having something you don't have.

Another form of God Modding is doing something without letting your opponent have the time to react. For Example:

Blue throws a punch at Red, hitting him in the face, knocking him down to the ground.

Blue never gave Red an opportunity to dodge the attack or counter attack. The proper way Blue should have stated it was:

Blue throws a punch at Red, aiming for his face, trying to knocking him back to the ground.

God-modding is serious offense, and punishment will be given out for it.

Battle Examples of God Modding

What not to do:

Stage 1 God Modding:
Blue runs. He runs fast. Blue stabs monster. Monster is now dead.

Stage 2 God Modding:
Red takes a million hits, but doesn't die; even after being stabbed several times in the head, heart, and neck. Now, he pulls a bazooka from his pocket, and blows up an entire army of monsters, killing each one instantly, because he pawns them.

Powerplaying
Powerplaying is when you dictate an outcome of somthing your character does while interacting with another character- thus, taking control of the other characters fate.

Example; lets say two dogs are fighting- their names are Doug and Joe.

If Doug were to post the following;

" stretching his jaws agape, he wrapped his mouth around Joe's neck, clenching firmly and tugging at Joe's flesh"
this is not powerplaying, because Doug did not specify if the attack injured Joe.

If Doug were to post the following;

" Stretching his jaws agape, he wrapped his mouth around Joe's neck, clenching firmly and tearing at Joe's flesh. Joe's warm blood ran down Doug's neck, staining his copper pelt and rusty hue"
This is powerplaying, because Doug's dictated the outcome of his actions. The reason you cannot dictate the outcome of your actions against another chatacter, is because then there is no possible way for the other character to get away. When Doug attacked Joe and powerplayed, it was impossible for Joe to RolePlay an escape.

I hope this clears up some misunderstandings. This explanation will be posted in the rules- if you have any questions, concerns, or anything else to add, please feel free to contact me or another member of the staff.
